Working "against resistance".
Facial-Flex® is based on the principle of working against resistance
, similar to a body workout. The resistance is provided by an orthodontic elastic band, the "Flex-Band", at the centre of the device. The resistance gradually increases thanks to
three different Flex-Band strengths: Flex-Band no.1 (standard, 170 g), Flex-Band no. 2 (strong, 225 g) and Flex-Band no. 3 (extra strong, 400 g).
Open your mouth wide (+/-3 cm) and place Facial-Flex® between the corners of your mouth. Push the corners of your mouth against the resistance of the device, whilst thoroughly tightening as many facial muscles as possible. Maintain the contraction for one to two seconds. Release and repeat.
The exerce sessions last for two minutes (approx. 120 contractions).
A little history…
The Facial-Flex® facial exerciser was initially designed in 1992 to soften the scar tissue of patients having suffered facial burns. However, it soon became clear that this device also had a beneficial re-toning action on those parts of the face not affected by the burns. Therefore, it was soon launched
in cosmetics, to combat loss of muscle tone and the associated signs of ageing.
In the paramedical field, Facial-Flex® is used to
regain muscle tone and as a complement to more traditional treatments. In this view, Facial-Flex® has undergone several independent clinical trials. One of these studies, published in 1994 in The Journal of Geriatric Dermatology, Pennsylvania USA, proved that after 8 weeks of regular use, Facial-Flex® improved muscle strength by 250%, skin elasticity and tone by 32.5% and blood circulation by 10%. Moreover, Facial-Flex® was approved by the American Food & Drug Administration, which classified it as a class 1 medical device (the category containing the simplest medical devices).
